The chupacabras
ORIGIN DOES BIBLE?
Is there any etymological origin of the word Chupacabras? Some trace their origins to biblical times. They talk about this animal was described in the Apocalypse of St. John. In fact that book does not mention anything about it, nor in the rest of the Bible. However, in the book of Isaiah (in the same apocalyptic) refers to a monster femenini named Lilith, who in some versions of the Bible has been translated as Nightjar (eye, is not Chupacabras). Indeed Isaiah describes the end of the old order and the arrival of that new world and ideal. In Isaiah 34.11 is said
it was seized (the Earth) the pelican and the hedgehog, the owl (Lilith or Nightjar) and the raven shall dwell in it, and it will be extended string of destruction and desolation levels .
The Hebrew word translated here as owl is Lilith is the name that was given to the monster of the night. This word also translates as ghost that frightens night and Nightjar. Lilitu is derived from, the name was given in Babylonian mythology, which in turn comes from the Semitic word for "night."
Darkness has always scared the man, who in his imagination has peopled by monstrous beings and strange noises. Modern man has forgotten some of this fear of the night shadows due to the use of artificial light. Although not all forget their old atavism: May we have for example to ufologists continue to find monsters at night.
Lilith in rabbinic tradition, was Adam's first wife long before Eve was created. Adam could not bear alilito because it was too clever (or maybe she could not bear because it was too boring), and that was the reason for their separation. She turned into a demon of the night according to some legends, he allied himself with the serpent to Adam and Eve sinned.
Isaiah, chapter 34, verse 14 says:
The wild beasts will meet with hyenas, and wild goat yell at your partner, the owl also shall rest there home, and find so rest.

An ancient legend says that nightjars sucked milk from goats. A version of the origin of this legend says the whippoorwill can open its mouth so widely that could suck the udders of cows and goats, another, perhaps the most successful, says the name comes from the animal produces a sound like a goat nursing. In fact the word cops kid or given to the breeding of goats while nursing. It is an onomatopoeic speech sound produced by these animals to feed.
Puerto Rican journalists not complicate life with all these etymologies and simply changed to "cop" for "sucks" and the Chupacabras was born hai.
